The studio, led by ceramicist Jennifer Prichard and Hunt Andre, is widely recognized for its site-specific installations of handmade ceramic forms that inhabit the spaces where people live, work, and gather. The installations transform their sites into wondrous places evoking those found in nature, like wildflower groves, butterfly swarms, and mushroom colonies.
Much like a natural organism, Jennifer’s installations finds their homes in unexpected places, clambering over walls and ceilings, nestling into corners, and wrapping around columns. In doing so, the installations invite people to connect with them in deeply meaningful ways. That connection is amplified by the forms’ interaction with nature, such as the shadows cast as daylight grazes the installation or by the artwork’s juxtaposition against views of the surrounding landscape.
A virtuoso ceramicist, Jennifer’s work is also distinguished by its remarkable craftsmanship. She uses the spinning force of the potter’s wheel to create flowing sculptural forms in finishes ranging from pure white porcelain to specialty glazes brought to life by the flames of the kiln. The sublimeness of the ceramic forms, instantly recognizable as the product of the human hand, give her installations their distinctive beauty and energy.
